My wife and I used to own and operate a restaurant. I not only understand the effects of increased taxes, I have felt them. I paid our employees one of the highest wages in the industry and even offered insurance.

I know the burden of increased utilities have on businesses and the ever increasing costs of supplies.

I also know how important small businesses are to personal finances and the local economy. Small businesses are part of the community. These are the types of businesses that donate to the little league or the music and sports teams.

Our restaurant donated to churches, the fire department, other charities and donated pizzas to be sold at the high-school football games.

In short, I have first hand knowledge in the importance a business is to a community and the local economy.
